    Derek Stepan of the New York Rangers Will Host the 5th Annual Face Off Classic

    Derek who is born and raised in Hastings, MN attended Shattuck-Saint Mary’s Prep High School, went on to attend The University of Wisconsin and is currently an Alternate Captain for the New York Rangers. In 2008 the New York Rangers drafted Derek in the second round as the 51st overall pick.  Afterwards Derek left for the University of Wisconsin, played two seasons for the Badgers and played for a National Championship his sophomore year.  Foregoing his Junior and Senior seasons at UW, Derek signed his first NHL contract with the New York Rangers in 2010.  He immediately made an impact with the team by recording a Hat-Trick in his first career NHL game against the Buffalo Sabers becoming only the fourth player in NHL history to record such a stat. Derek has gone on to have a terrific career with the Rangers being an integral part of their team success, he has played in the playoffs every season and made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in the 2014-15 season. He has also made an impact internationally in 2010 by taking home the gold medal in the IIHF World U20 Championship tournament in Canada; he also represented the USA in Sochi in the 2014 Olympics.

    Jordan who was born and raised in Lakeville, Minnesota attended Saint Thomas Academy for two years before graduating with honors at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, MI. Jordan went on to live out his childhood dream by attending the University of Minnesota in 2008.  He made an immediate impact for the Gophers being the youngest player on the team his freshman year recording 13 goals and 32 assists in 32 games becoming the WCHA rookie of the year.  Jordan has also had a fantastic World Junior International career. He is the first player from the University of Minnesota to play in three consecutive IIHF World Championships and was teammates with Derek in 2010 to win the gold medal. With his great play in college and World Juniors Jordan was one of the top ranked draft prospects and eventually drafted by the Vancouver Canucks with the 22nd overall pick in the first round in the 2009 NHL Draft.  In 2013 he made his NHL debut against the Calgary Flames and just nine games later he recorded his first NHL goal.  Jordan is currently a fan favorite with his hometown team the Minnesota Wild.  His speed and great skill was a key component to the team’s success making it back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs this last season.

    Brad Maxwell


    Brad Maxwell - Former Minnesota North Star

    After having won the Memorial Cup in 1977 as a member of the New Westminster Bruins, Maxwell was selected seventh overall in the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft by the Minnesota North Stars. He stayed with the North Stars throughout the early 1980s, recording 73 points in 78 games in his best season with the club in 1983–84. At the end of his career he bounced around between teams, spending short amounts of time with the Quebec NordiquesToronto Maple LeafsVancouver Canucks and New York Rangers, and ultimately retired in 1987.

    Dave Christian

    Dave is a retired American professional ice hockey forward from Warroad, MN. He played college hockey at the University of North Dakota but he is best known for being a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team that won the gold medal in an event known as the Miracle on Ice during the 1980 Winter Olympics

    Dave played for the Winnipeg Jets, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks.  Between 1980 and 1993, he scored 340 goals and 433 assists in 1,009 NHL regular season games.  Dave was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.

    Lee Goren


    Lee Goren

    Lee Goren is a Canadian former professional hockey player who played for the University of North Dakota, winning a National Championship.  He was drafted by the Boston Bruins and has played for Florida and Vancouver in the NHL before playing the remainder of his career abroad in Europe.

    Bob Paradise

    Paradise attended Cretin High School before going on to the 1968 U.S. Olympic Team and then a career in the NHL.   He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989.

    Jack Carlson

    Jack Carlson was drafted by both the WHA Minnesota Fighting Saints and the Detroit Red Wings.  During his professional career, he played for both Minnesota Fighting Saints and the Minnesota North Stars.

    WCHA Commissioner Bill Robertson

    Bill Robertson, who helped the Minnesota Wild start from scratch as an NHL franchise, is the newest commissioner of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

    Robertson was Vice President of Communications and Broadcasting for the Wild from 1999-2011. He also has worked for the Anaheim Angels, the Mighty Ducks and the Timberwolves. He is a graduate of Cal State Fullerton.

    Phil Housley

    Phil is an American former ice hockey player from South St. Paul who played for the Buffalo SabresWinnipeg JetsSt. Louis BluesCalgary FlamesNew Jersey DevilsWashington CapitalsChicago Blackhawks, and Toronto Maple Leafs.  Housley is currently an assistant coach for the Nashville Predators.  He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004.

    Jordan Leopold

    Jordan is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for your Minnesota Wild. He was drafted by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 1999, though never making an appearance with the team. In his NHL career, Leopold has also played for the Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues and Columbus Blue Jackets.  Leopold played high school hockey at Armstrong in Minneapolis and also received the Hobey Baker Award while playing college hockey at the University of Minnesota in 2002.

    Nic Dowd

    Nic played for St. Cloud State University and was drafted by the LA Kings where he is currently playing.  He was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award in 2013-14.

    Ryan Malone

    Ryan is a former American professional ice hockey forward. He played in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh PenguinsTampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers. In 2003 he became the first Pittsburgh-born and trained player to suit up for the Penguins in an NHL game.  Ryan played at Shattuck-St. Mary's and St. Cloud State University.  Malone was also named to the United States Olympic ice hockey team, and went on to win a silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

    Travis Roche

    Travis is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for Modo Hockey of the Swedish Hockey League.  Travis played college hockey at the University of North Dakota and has played in the NHL for your Minnesota Wild and the Phoenix Coyotes.

    Jeff Parker

    Jeff was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota and raised in White Bear Lake, and is a former professional ice hockey right wing. He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres and also played for the Hartford Whalers.  Jeff played college for Michigan State University where he was on the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 1986.

     

    Justin Fontaine

    Justin is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and is currently playing for your Minnesota Wild.

    Thomas Vanek

    Thomas is an Austrian professional ice hockey left winger currently playing for your Minnesota Wild. He has also played for the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, and Montreal Canadiens.

    Vanek was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres fifth overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, making him the highest drafted Austrian in NHL history.

    Jamie McBain

    Jamie is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League. McBain was born in Edina, Minnesota, but grew up in Faribault, Minnesota.  He was WCHA Player of the Year in 2008-09 with the University of Wisconsin.

    Ben Hanowski

    Ben grew up in Little Falls, MN where he played both baseball and hockey. He is the all-time leading scorer in Minnesota High School hockey history, recording 405 points in 117 games. He was a finalist for the Minnesota Mr. Hockey award and named Minnesota Player of the Year by the Associated Press in 2008–09 following a season in which he scored 73 goals and 62 assists in 31 games.  

    He attended St. Cloud State University before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Ben currently plays for the Calgary Flames.  

    Nick Jensen

    Nick is an American professional ice hockey defenseman from Rogers, MN and currently playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Jensen was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2009.  He was named WCHA Defensive Player of the Year in 2012-13 when he played at St. Cloud State University.

    Erik Condra

    Erik is an American professional ice hockey player. Condra is currently playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning and has played for the Ottawa Senators. Condra played for the University of Notre Dame in the CCHA where he received the Terry Flanagan Memorial Award in 2008-09.

    Tyler Pitlick

    Tyler is an American professional ice hockey forward. He is currently playing with the Edmonton Oilers. Tyler is a Minnesota native from Centennial High School and played college hockey at Minnesota State University in Mankato.

    Jim O'Brien

    Jim is an American professional ice hockey player.  A native of Maplewood, MN, he played college hockey at the University of Minnesota and is currently playing with the New Jersey Devils.  Previously he played with the Ottawa Senators where he was their 1st round draft pick in 2007.

    Nate Prosser

    Nate is an American ice hockey defenseman, who is currently playing for your Minnesota Wild.  A native of Elk River, MN, he played college hockey at Colorado College.
